Trading Commences with "One Fine Zipper"

We are finally ready to commence the trading challenge. I am offering one clothes zipper. Why start with this? Connor is a little young at 3 but I am told that heart kids are proud of their “zipper” … the scar on their chest resulting from open heart surgery.

So I am opening with one fine zipper as a tribute to all the babies, toddlers, children and adults that own their own “zipper”. Thus commences the Zipper trade up challenge. What are you willing to trade for a zipper? It doesn’t need to be theme relevant but could be innovative or just a plain item which will provide enough demand to trade again. The only rule is that it must be of greater value so I can achieve a great end item to sell or auction (determined by item at end).

On an earlier post I admitted I am not creative. I need assistance folks .. not that I have a huge following at this early stage. I am seeking suggestions for the name of the challenge based around the zip, heart, charity theme … tricky I know. A couple that came to mind to me, and I did say I am not creative, are:

“The Proud Zipper”

“Zip it Up”

“Zip It for Charity”

“Our Fine Zipper”

The resultant funds from the final trade will be donated to a charity assisting families of heart kids that are required to travel to Melbourne from South Australia for surgery. The exact organization it will go to will be confirmed very soon.

How about using "zip" to imply speed... considering that most heart babies need a rather quick fix, at least to start out with.

And for all that, I have no actual ideas. Sorry.

*Love* the idea of a zipper - completely agree, and can say that Bethy used to be very proud of her zippers - she had an extra one after tummy surgery!

Maybe something like "The Special Zipper"? It's quite late, so I'm not thinking on all (any) cylinders ;)

And being that I am tired... I should have put this all in one post, but meh...

Anyways, I am going to link you under the special section I created for MoneyForOldRope, so there will be two of you there on each side of the world. I'll also send this to a few heart lists to drum up some hits :)

Good Luck

GREAT idea - I love it! And, if I may, I'd like to be the first to offer a trade for that one "fine zipper." (My 6 year old son has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, and had 3 open heart surgeries before the age of two - so we know those zippers well!)

I'd like to offer a trade of a "Heart Hugs" Teddy Bear from our nonprofit organization, California Heart Connection. It's a cute, cuddly bear complete with padded paws. You can view a picture of one here:

click on Donations, then "Teddy Bear Project"

Let me know if we have a trade!

The first thing I thought of when I saw that you had a zipper for trade is how my daughter, Jessica, was always so proud of her "zipper". We have video of her when she was 3 yrs old proudly showing off her "zipper". We started calling it a zipper since we knew she would need many heart surgeries, they should just install a zipper so they would have easy access. lol. Fortunately as Jess has gotten older, she has stopped showing off her zippers. hehe...
